EVENT: RICK ROSS CONCERT - HMV FORUM, LONDON

'CAN I GET A ROZAY........ROZAYYYYYY'

Earlier last month I did a post alerting you guys that Rick Ross was going to perform in London again. I said that wasn't going to go........well in the end I ended up rolling with my cousins to the event. After the last concert in November 10', I thought 'hey why not', plus seen as he's brought out some new stuff I thought it would be good to see him perform it.

Didn't really think a lot of people were going.......I was wrong. On twitter, it seemed like my whole TL was rolling which added to gassing me up about the night. As usual, the weather decided to say 'fuck up' and chucked it down with rain en route to the HMV Forum in Kentish Town. As we drove past the venue, we saw the queue.....ErMMMM why was it NOT moving and going round and round. Not only that, I had never been to the HMV Forum before and was surprised to see it look a bit CRUDDY. We finally found parking and made our way to the queue. Luckily, anyone who had tickets lined up separate to those collecting tickets and in the end we got in fairly quick.

Inside now, we go and get some seats (seated tickets were not allocated to specific seats except for the booth). We got inside at like 20.30, no seats left, and any seats that we were able to squeeze into would made it all a bit uncomfortable, so we ending up standing. That really did defeat the purpose of getting seated tickets. I didn't mind too much because there was room to move upstairs and I knew I would be up shaking a leg as soon as acts performed.

Play Ents were djying....they were good but tbh looking back at the November concert, Tim Westwood tore the place down. Anyway, I got there just in time to see Sneakbo. Now don't get me wrong, Sneakbo is good and he's making moves at such a young age BUT when your performing and you regard yourself as an artist I do expect you to deliver. Half way through the song, Sneakbo comes out and he did do really well. Once he completed the songs, ermmm he bopped off stage O_o maybe im being picky but every artist ive seen always thanks their fans. Let's be real people were mainly going there to watch Rick Ross perform but a lot of people there are Sneakbo fans too.....Sneakbo show some appreciation, not a big deal just common courtesy. Rumour has is Sneakbo is signed to Maybach Music....I need to get this confirmed though.

I dunno what happened after, but all I felt was wave of energy and I knew Rick Ross was coming on (no exagging). BOOOM, Rick Ross comes on stage. Y is this guy such a BOSSS! You may say its cos he's fat but the guy knows how to own the stage! Estelle also popped up on stage to perform her new single 'Break my heart' with Rick Ross. Nice surprise. Upmost respect to Estelle, always like her from '1980'. Another UK artist doing well in the US.

Anyway here's one of my videos from the event:

(Excuse the shaking camera movements :s)

All in all, November concert was better in regards to the vibe, but ended quicker. However, this one was good cos we got to hear more of Rick Ross but the venue was shit. I think Hammersmith Apollo were not on holding another Rick Ross concert due to the beef that happened last time. There's rumours going round that Rick Ross got his chain popped. I really don't think it's true tbh. There's pics of the chains going around but I wanna see/hear more evidence.

Ain't life a BITCH, But you gotta keep her wet - Rick Ross

P.S. I will upload more videos tomorrow, blogger is shegging......i really should have stuck with tumblr.

EVENT: BLACKSTAR, DE LA SOUL & RAKIM

Tuesday 10th May - Me and my mate went to Hammersmith Apollo for the Blackstar (Talib Kweli & Mos Def), De La Soul and Rakim. When I found out these 3 hip hop greats were going to be in london, I knew i had to get tickets asap. Anyway we got there, didnt need to spend ages in the queue. One thing I do hate about Hammersmith Apollo is that they charge RIDIC prices for food. Hotdogs were £4 and a bottle of Smirnoff £4.70 kmt.

We got to our seats and waited about 20 mins before the show started. It got PACKED within mins. Defo a sold out event. I loved the fact that despite it being a hip hop concert, there were people of all ages, races and backgrounds there all enjoying under one roof.

Hip hop great, Rakim came on first and sprayed a few of his classics. He apparently hasn't performed in 15 years. Not to be rude but you could defo tell. He was really working the crowd and the energy just wasn't there. He closed his performance with his classic 'Paid in Full'. The whole crowd went WILD!! The vibe was excellent.

De La Soul came on 2nd. These guys have not aged one bit. They also performed some of their classics such as 'Me, Myself and I' and 'Ain't all good'. I think they did a 45 min set. The vibe was live and kicking. These guys had the most energy ive seen in a live perfomance for a while. EPIC! The funniest part was when a girl in the crowd was not vibzing to thhe song they were performing. They cut off the music, called her in front of the whole audience. EMBARRASSMENT! They did this a few times, but not in a way to mock their audience but to make sure that EVERYONE appreciated their performance and most importantly enjoyed themselves.

Then the two hip hop greats we were waiting for graced the stage, SUITED AND BOOTED! Mos Def (my husband) was looking SHARP. Now, I don't know what happened or whether their set was properly organised or not, but it seemed like their DJs were playing the wrong songs. The vibe was still live but all the confusion on stage was affecting the audience. Don't get me wrong they were good but De La Soul won the night for me. It really should have been the other way round though :/

Overall the night was good. I do have some photos and videos on my blackberry of the event but the quality is PANTS. Apologies, I couldnt be asked to bring Venus (my SLR) with me this time.

The famous event is currently taking place in Cali, USA over 3 days! (Wish I was there). The line up is EPIC, with the likes of Erykah Badu, Kings of Leon, Magnetic Man, Odd Future, The Chemical Bros, Raphael Saadiq, Wiz Khalifa, Kanye West............basically the creme de la creme will be performing there. Any celebs who are not performing there will most likely make an appearance.

EVENT: PDT END OF TERM PARTY!!!!

My mate Kitz (@KittyAmorPDT - follow her) is part of the entertainment group PDT who are well known for their raves especially in the uni scene! They held a rave in Pandora's Box, Nottingham on 24th March and seen as Ive just started photography, Kitz asked me to come up and do some for her event. So went work, then dashed up to Notts via National Express (the family that were on my coach would not let me live, soooo LOUD). Anyway, so I stopped off at Maryland *love eyes* (best chicken and chip shop) and made my way to Kitz' house.

Anyway got to the venue, and gradually the beautiful people of Nottingham started pouring in. The rave was RAMMMMMMMM before I knew it.

Kitz getting kicked out the club

Now this was my first time doing event photography so I was being bare polite asking people if they wanted a picture. Ive defo learnt NEVER ask, just take it! Aim the camera and snap! So yeah, the music was popping offf! Tune after tune!! Loved Dj Rudes' set, proper took me back to the good ol days.

The highlight for me were a small group of freshies in the rave! These guys gave me joke. As soon as afrobeats came one of them starts dancing, posing for me to take pics of him loooool.

Overall, I met a lot of really nice people and I will be going back to Notts when they have their end of term stuff! First hit Kingston and then Notts! That week is going to be crazzzzyyy!

Lastly, big up to the PDT Team! Thanks for blessing me with a great opportunity!
